First Time at Dreamforce?

Some hints and tips you might find helpful for Dreamforce ’14…

  • Connect on LinkedIn with anyone you plan to meet with so you know who to look out for, and can offer a welcoming meet and greet. It beats having to ask them to wear a pink carnation!

  • Don’t plan back-to-back meetings in different locations, you’ll find yourself running behind schedule as it always takes longer than you think to get anywhere!

  • Pick three goals you wish to achieve during Dreamforce, whether it’s key meetings, a number of face-to-face presentations each day or attending certain workshops. You need to plan or else you’ll be lost in a sea of opportunities.

Improved Apps – in the Top-3 Life-Changing Apps!

Great news… Improved Help has been given a glowing review by Salesforce MVP, Peter Chambers, Managing Director at Morphate:

Improved Apps comes in at number 3…

Training and Onboarding: We’ve all been there when you roll out a new Salesforce instance or a new process and you train everyone up. Everyone jumps in and is using it but then you have a new person start next week and you need to roll out the same training to them. Apps like Improved Apps  or CrowdGuide can be used for onboarding and training. Improved Apps also allows you to embed “how to” information at the field level. For me these apps are a no brainer and should be included for every single Salesforce instance.

Dreamforce… It’s the people that make it what it is

Looking Forward to Dreamforce ’14

Can you believe it? It is that time of year again – Dreamforce is only a matter of weeks away. The signs are there – reps are phone-bashing their salesforce customers to persuade them to attend; San Francisco hotels are fully booked, and salesforce twitterites are tweeting about the countdown to the big event. It’s all happening…

But with times being as they are, justification to attend will be severely tested this year for many companies, particularly those that aren’t based in the U.S. Oh boy those flights can get expensive… maybe we should all charter something together!!

But even with the costs involved I still think Dreamforce is priceless. I’ve been attending for the last seven years in one capacity or another, either as an employee of salesforce, a customer or a partner.

 Am I going this year?..

Bored of Big Data? Me Too…Let’s Talk Small Data

Everyone is talking about big data, even our CTO, (god bless his cotton socks! – sorry Martin)..but I have to admit I’m into ‘small data’…seeing patterns through conversations with our customers, gleaning what they like about us and what really supports their end-users.  In fact, to be honest we’re all big fans of ‘small data’ at Improved Apps.

So what is the value in small data?…. Why should you care?

Dyslexia And What It’s Taught Me

Dyslexia and Lessons in Life

I’d say, I’m known to my friends and colleagues as ‘a decent kind of bloke’… a ‘he’d do anything for anyone’ sort of guy…and I’m proud of that.  I really do try and make time for other people whether at home or in the office – it’s who I am….And why I am that kind of guy?…I’ve come to the conclusion is partly due to my dyslexia.  Sure, I was brought up to be polite and to consider others, but being dyslexic, and having to face the difficulties it presented, particularly at school, has certainly influenced the person that I’ve become.  It’s made me see things in a different way – but I don’t just mean the words on a page or on a PC screen.  It’s how I see life…my vision…my responsibilities…

Working To People’s Strengths

I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to get my point across as succinctly as others, and how frustrating it is being unable to communicate an idea and assimilate things as quickly when in the written form.  I know how hurtful it is when you’re brushed aside for being ‘slow’, but I also remember how great it feels when somebody works with you to your strengths and helps bring out the very best in you.  And these issues, these experiences, the good and the bad, have made me the person I am…
